INTRODUCTION TO SOCCER INTERNATIONAL

Soccer International is an independent organisation that offers academy level coaching to players aged 5 to 16. Soccer International was awarded FA Charter Standard status in its first season while affiliated with the Gloucestershire FA in 2006. We teach our players using a progressive training syllabus that has taken years to complete, utilising coaches and facilities that often exceed those of local professional clubs. We operate outside of the constraints that arise when children sign for a pro club ; therefore all of our boys receive professional academy level training during the week but can also continue playing with their mates for their local team at the weekend while keeping their Professional Club options open.

What We Do…

Our training consists of two weekly sessions following the school calendar, using our coaching syllabus which is loosely based on the one used by the FFF (French Football Federation). Throughout the year we organise friendly games for our U'8 to U'16 groups against Premiership and Football League teams. We also take these age groups to domestic and elite tournaments across Europe. Our games and tournament programme means our boys are exposed to top English and European standards of football. Whilst this is a great experience on the pitch, the sense of team spirit and responsibility are great life lessons and this is often commented on by parents of the players.

How We Do It…

When our players start playing U'12 football we enter them into the Midland Junior Premier League, which boasts the highest level non-academy development league in the country. They play against development teams from across the midlands and the southern central part of the country. This means that our players are seen by the people who make decisions at many clubs, rather than just one man at one club. As a result, it gives our players greater opportunities to progress and a choice of pro clubs to sign for if they are talented enough.

Our Aim…

Quite simply, we want to bridge the huge gap that currently exists between grass-roots football and academy football. For those players seeking a future playing professionally we want to make sure that when they do join a pro club, it is the right club. It is never our choice where a player should sign; this decision is one for the whole family.Soccer International has already teamed up with Universities & colleges to provide its players with an exit route at age 16 - offering the best facilities and best coaching for the maximum amount of time while studying a foundation or recreational college course. All of our coaches hold either a UEFA ‘A’ or UEFA ‘B’ Licence coaching licence & deliver training topics during the week. Qualified volunteers (match day managers) shadow Academy coaches on training nights to relay the French syllabus implemented by director Jamie Shore on match days. All match day managers have attained at least the Level 2 FA coaching certificate in football and are mentored to progress. This includes child protection and the promotion of best practice as set out by the Football Association.

JSSi U12 Junior Premier League & League Cup Winners 2009

The JSSi U’12 squad preparation emulated Jamie’s England Youth experience in the European Championships.

The Holiday Inn at Filton was the meeting place for this talented crop of U12 players who have been training together at JSSi for almost 4 years. Having won the Junior Premier League the week previous, the challenge was to win the Junior Premier League Cup Final and secure the double.

JSSi staff consisting of Paul Taylor, Pete Malpass, John Rankin & Steve Down along with players all met wearing shirt & tie at the Holiday Inn in Filton at 8am for Breakfast. Once the players had eaten, the team then relocated to a private function room where the starting line up and set pieces for & against was announced.
An Executive coach courtesy of “Euro Taxis” transferred the professional outfit of JSSi players & staff from the Holiday Inn to the Memorial Stadium where the players shortly found themselves gracing the hallowed turf of the memorial stadium which is the home to Bristol Rovers FC of whom play in the 3rd tier of English football.
Gloucester City were always going to be challenged by the quality and experience of JSSi Academy level players, who have competed on similar stages across Europe when touring as part of their long term players development.

The game began with JSSi taking control of possession in the first 25 minutes of the game only to see Gloucester to come on strong in the final 10 minutes.

Both teams had chances, JSSi nearly drew first blood with a great simple effective interplay between Ben Worlock, Marcus Rankin resulting in a great Joe Lyndsey cross into Jacob Sloggett only to see his far post header to skim the outside of the far post out for a goal kick.

JSSi came out all guns blazing second half with better decision making, width and forward momentum down the sides and penetration with improved mental control under pressure provided crosses, shots, provided JSSi with a well worked goal.

Joe Lyndsy provided yet another great cross from a well worked set piece corner which was eagerly met in the six yard box by Will Collier who simply guided the ball into the back of a crumbling Gloucester city’s net.

The JSSi defence of Voulters, Wentland (Man of the Match), Collier, Down and Summerhill were solid throughout the game. The defence was protected by Allen, Worlock, Malpass, Lyndsy, Baker, Vile and Dodge midfield. Strikers Sloggett, Davis and Rankin were very effective in crucial moments in crucial and always caused problems in & out of possession of the ball.

Tyler Davies put te game out of reach when he pounced on the end of Vile, Wentland & Lyndsy's Link up play which resulted in the Gloucester City Goalkeeper stranded with eagerly anticipating super sub Davies to pounce and slot home to give JSSi a well deserved 2-0 cushion midway through the second half.

Joe Guest & James Fisher played for the U13’s during 2008-2009 season but also contributed to the U12 team’s success in spells but unfortunately Cup tied so couldn’t participate in the cup game. We would like to say that these two players have been extremely professional in their response to missing the final and this mentality will see them succeed in football.

Well done to all JSSi players this year in terms of progress made individually and collectively.

We hope that our parents & players are now wise enough to see past the professional club interest and look more long term (like Miles Hatfield, David Goldsmith & James Seeley who could see through the approach from Pro Clubs & their badge/brand as professional clubs until they were U'14 U'15 where they decided then that Cardiff City, Portsmouth & WBA were the best Clubs for them).

JSSi provides players/students with the best facility’s, coaching syllabus and aquire a unique blend of both coach & player experience at the highest level to help provide our players with the best amalgamation of coaching and guidence which is key to JSSi player development and JSSi team’s success. Its easy to sit in the stand & spot talent which is what we call the froth at the top of the glass, but not so easy to spot the grey bit in the middle - develop and nurture potential from grass root level. That's what we do best!!

We hope this success continues as a team
